Document automation
Clio performs the merge.
When a user selects a Clio document template, SignumEra initiates Clio document generation through the Clio Manage API. Clio binds the selected template to the selected matter and its associated matter, contact, related-contact, and custom-field data.
SignumEra monitors the document-automation job until completion and then uses the generated matter-specific document for preparation.
No manual action in the Clio user interface is required.
SignumEra must not download the raw template and attempt to interpret or replace Clio merge tags itself.
Matter creation
Create New Matter is part of the selector.
Collect the minimum fields required by Clio—such as matter name, client/contact, responsible lawyer, practice area, status, and required custom fields—create the matter through the API, then automatically continue with the new matter selected.

Create the matter directly from the Teams-native SignumEra workflow.
Defer assignment
Allow early preparation where appropriate, but require a matter before authoritative generation or finalization.
