What is second-generation digital signing?

It is the shift from capturing a signature to controlling and recording the wider agreement-execution process.

From signature event to execution ceremony

First-generation e-signature platforms normalized sending a document and collecting electronic signatures. Second-generation digital signing asks a broader set of questions: who participated, which document revision was authoritative, what policy governed signing, whether required witnesses and meeting conditions were satisfied, who finalized the agreement, and what evidence exists afterward.

SignumEra’s interpretation

  • The organizational control surface runs in Microsoft Teams.
  • The business context remains in Microsoft 365, Clio Manage, or Salesforce as system of record.
  • The prepared PDF and ceremony policy are authoritative for the session.
  • External signers receive private, signer-specific SignLinks.
  • Finalization produces a completed document and evidence package.
